SHIT; Not My Guns To

President Obama’s boldness in acting alone to implement amnesty for 5 million illegal aliens begs the question: What other unilateral policies might be coming down the pike? Could there be a Christmas Eve surprise?

The Second Amendment Foundation isn’t waiting to find out. The possibility of an executive action by Obama committing the United States to the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty maybe his next unconstitutional violation of our rights and laws. Also known as the U.N. “small arms treaty,” it is scheduled to go into effect Dec. 24 for those nations that have signed and ratified the document.

The U.S. signed the treaty Sept. 23, 2013, but has not ratified it. China and Russia have never signed the document. This blog post is to build public awareness, a petition drive and a threat of legal action against the president should he take action to ratify the U.N. treaty without Senate approval. I'm here to educate and inform the public so people understand the threat that an Obama executive order poses to the Constitution. Nobody elected Barack Obama as emperor, but his actions lately suggests he believes otherwise. If he has forgotten there are three branches of government, and I intend on refreshing his memory.

A lawsuit would be the last option, but will be taken only if an executive order or action comes from Obama’s office. I think the president doesn’t care about abiding by the law, but there’s no doubt there’s only one way to hold him accountable, and that’s by taking him to court. There's are not enough votes in the Senate to stop Obama, because it takes 60 votes to stop a filibuster by Democrats and allow legislation to come up for a vote. That’s why we need to aim for the court system.

I knew from Day 1 the Obama administration wanted to push this treaty, but they didn’t want to get gun owners all up in arms before an election and mobilize the Republican base. Based on what he’s done with amnesty, we have reason to believe he’s doubling down on everything that he can’t get through Congress now, and he’s going to do it through executive orders or actions.

It’s a case of dictator in chief.

The U.N. arms treaty goes into effect internationally during the holiday season, when many Americans will be busy shopping, planning parties and celebrating.“So based on that, it gives him a window to do it now.

Does anyone remember what happened on December 31, 2011? It was the day that Obama signed into law the unconstitutional N.D.A.A, (National Defense Authorization Act) which gave him the power to detain American's indefinitely without charges and use military troops on American soil. Christmas Eve triggers the opportunity, in their eyes, where they could do this right under peoples noses, when everyone is looking for Santa Clause to arrive, they may end up with an anti-gun treaty instead. It was, in fact, on Dec. 24 that the U.S. Senate voted to adopt another controversial law, the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, so Obama has this habit of doing things while folks aren't looking.

The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty requires nations to keep records tracking every transaction involving firearms. Anti-gun organizations funded by billionaires such as Michael Bloomberg, Bill Gates and George Soros have been pushing the administration to move on the U.N. arms treaty. Whether Obama’s executive action would literally amount to a ratification of the treaty or merely comply with its rules on tracking gun transactions is unclear, but either way the end result would be the same.

The pressure on the United States to comply with the treaty is not just coming from inside the country but internationally. The U.S. is the world’s largest arms producer with China and Russia rounding out the top three. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry took an active role in crafting the language of the treaty, and signed off on it last year, but it has never been ratified by the U.S. Senate as required by the U.S. Constitution. They know they can’t get that, so they’re planning to do it by executive order.

Gun owners and myself haven’t trusted Obama from Day 1, and they have less reason to trust him now that he has a pen in his hand and is willing to do what he wants by executive order. His pen could be deadly to the Bill of Rights. Obama has been threatened to use an Executive Order in an attempt to curb gun violence and ban guns since before he was elected in 2008. That of course would be all guns, and would be unconstitutional and infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.

If he were to do this without Congressional approval, some in Congress may try to have him impeached. There is no way that Obama has the authority to issue an executive order which supersedes an amendment to the constitution.

The Second Amendment was designed to protect us from an oppressive government by guaranteeing the citizenry a means to fight back if the need is warranted. The Second Amendment states; A well-regulated Militia states; being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The Supreme Court has definitively held that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that weapon for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Moreover, this right applies not just to the federal government, but to states and municipalities as well. From a speech in 1788, by George Mason, one of the Founding Fathers of our country. To stop all the violence maybe all law-biding citizens should do their part and just turn in their guns, I’m sure the criminals and gang-bangers will do the same. What utter nonsense. I am for better gun laws, enforcing current laws and tougher sentencing though laws, enforcing current laws.

But, a better way to stop lots of the violence would be to seriously address the ills of our society. It’s a sad commentary to have locked doors, armed guards and police in our schools, work places and stores. It has been suggested by the NRA that all schools should have armed guards. What a terrific expense and burden this would put on our school districts. Some school District have had police officers in their schools for over 5 years. As long as our nation’s leaders will not face the real problems and put blame on those who deserve blame, not much will be accomplished. Politicians should stop worrying about offending certain groups of people and stop playing to their voting base.

We all know we can’t depend on our government, our military and even our police to fully protect us, so don’t even think about banning my guns. The majority of people in this country want to be able to protect themselves and their loved ones. Since all this gun control talk, gun sales have gone through the roof. Local sporting goods stores and firearms shops can’t keep enough ammo on their shelves. People are arming themselves to the teeth.

One last note: Today at a middle school here in Miami, one student stabbed another student. One more act of school violence, but this time no gun was involved.
